Hi there I'm a current 1st year at Leeds Trinity.

I currently stay in Trinity Close and really do recommend it. I've only visited the other halls for parties etc.. so I would provide a bias opinion on those.

Trinity Close

Positives
Very comfortable
Medium size kitchens/lounge area (shared between 6)
Great house parties
Free parking
2 floors only
On-suite (amazing bathrooms, showers are better than all-saints by FAR)

Negatives
1 minute walk from the uni and SU (minor)
no wi-fi just wired internet
Little social aspect, I find that people are less interactive and prefer to goto bed early usually (you will get to know your house-mates but other houses maybe not).
Self-catered (however i don't see this as a negative, I can cook)

I really recommend you explore all the accommodation on the open days.

One other thing as well, St.Albans, Ripon, Norwich (the cheaper ones) tend to be very noisy, you will get used to it eventually, but I've noticed the people who live in them seem to have 24hr parties, great if you like that sort of thing.

This is brilliant,
Do you know if any teaching postgraduates stay in halls?
Thanks

I've noticed the same thing. I live in all saints but whenever I go and see friends up in Norwich, I seem to be able to hear everything going on in a lot of the corridors. But don't let that put you off because my friend says that living there is really good because apparently everyone knows everyone and its easier to socialise.

You see I like that in all saints there's only six on a corridor and no one can get on your corridor without a key (kind of like the Trinity Close houses) so for me that was really good because it meant that at the start, meeting people wasn't so over-whelming.

Feel free to ask questions and i'll answer them as best i can

Ah that's put my mind at rest :L  I'm considering going to Leeds but the thought of leaving home is putting me off in case I get home sick! Where do people generally live after their first year? Is other student housing still near to the Uni? xx

I've only just seen this, sorry! I felt exactly the same. I was so sure that I'd be in tears by the end of the night (I have anxiety) but I wasn't. You're so busy in the first week that you don't get chance to be home sick! Plus, if you ring home often then that helps. I know it all sounds a bit daunting but you'll soon get used to it

Feel free to pm me any time and if you have facebook I can add you on there so that when you go you can talk to me if you want to

Well a lot of people live in Headingly which is just next to Horsforth and about 5/10 minute train journey away. You don't need to think about where to live in the second year until January though!

Yeah its really nice inside  If it helps, when I first moved in, my Auntie said that she'd love to live there as "its like a hotel" (her words) Have you seen photos of the inside too because I think theres some on the Leeds Trinity website

I don't think it matters where you live. As far as I'm aware its first come first serve so if you sent it back in time then your chances are good

I firmed Leeds in the end so I'm off to there in September  the change from home will do me good! Christ January is quite early actually to decide who to live with after just 4 months of knowing them! :L

Where would you say are the quieter halls but not too quiet? With doing the primary education degree I don't want to be somewhere, where people are going to be having parties until like 3am on a weekday when I have lectures at 9am 4 days a week :/ but I'm a bit of a party animal myself so I don't want to be completely out of the party ring!! xx

Haha you'd be surprised! You get to know people really quickly because you're all in the same boat. Think of it like Big Brother - they make friends quickly because they're living together and don't know each other from the start. Its a bit like that. By January you'll be great friends with people! Plus, you might want to go onto the Leeds Trinity page on facebook in August and start adding people on your course. You can get to know people before you go then and that makes things a bit easier when you first go  Well I'd say All Saints and Trinity Close are the quietest but there will be parties in the flats every now and again. It's just something that happens. Plus, theres sooo many nights how that you can go to so you definitely won't be completely out of the party ring

Haha, don't worry, there's the kitchen where everyone always end up. Seriously, I can't count how many times I went into the kitchen to get something and didn't get back to my room for hours because I got talking to people

Oh thats great  And its good that you've been speaking to people too  I was just about to come and tell you that I'd seen one of your posts on another thread and that if you wanted to be near the library then Trinity Close wouldn't be a good idea considering its something like a 15 minute walk away! Ripon/Whitby sound like good choices!

I have just found out today that I have a place at Trinity Close to start in 2014. Can't wait! Whats the general atmosphere like? Do the people who live there like to party, I really wanna party in my first year haha!

I've just been offered a place at Trinity Close and I accepted it for the fact that to looks the nicest and I get an en-suite. However, are the people really boring or do they like to party. I really wanna have a fun time in the first year and I don't really want to be with people who just goto bed early every night haha!
