I'm thinking of starting taking pro plus...the caffine one not the penis enlargement one -shifty eyes-
http://www.mypharmacy.co.uk/alternative_medicines/medicines/p/pro_plus/pro_plus.htm

I have the 8 hours sleep I'm supposed to have, but for some reason I just can't stay awake, so I'm wondering if this will help.

Has anyone here taken it? If so what are your experiances?

just a note, THIS IS VERY ADDICTIVE STUFF! if your planning to use it as a daily solution for feeling tired then don’t, this is only indented for occasional use, if you have problems with feeling tired try and get more sleep or go to your doctors, this is the last thing you want to be on if you have a sleep problem.
Take too many and you get the shakes. Seriously.

ANd you tend to go to the toilet a lot...

It will muck up your sleep pattern, and make you feel even more tired when the efects wear off. Don't start- it is too easy to get addicted. Possibly see a doctor...
I'm at uni, and lots of people her use it. I use it if i'm going for an all nighter, either working or partying. It works quite well and doesn't stop you sleeping when you want to. But i don't think it is safe to use on a daily basis. Also on the subject of being tired if you are getting a good nights sleep and are still tired it maybe worth seeing your doctor for a blood test, you may be anaemic.

8 hours sleep is only a guide, so if you're finding you're tired after that you probably need more!

My flatmate started taking them. He took LOADS. He went a bit crazy and now he has to go to the doctors about a tight and painful chest. It may not be related of course but I think it is.
Pro Plus is largely overrated. Each pill contains half the caffeine of a cup of coffee, and there is little chance of overdosing (you need about 150+). Also, the long term problems are neglible for a young-student: assuming you stop using them by the time your 40, you should have no problems what-so-ever. The effect each pill has on oneself is largely based on how much of a Pro-Plus mood your in. I once took about 8 and was a bit delusional, but that was because of no-sleep for about 3 days. I once took 25 at once and just felt a bit tired. As I said, most of it is based on how cool you want to appear. I see losers out who claim to get wasted on like half of one.

It will not substitute for sleep. They will make you feel midly ill if you are really tired, but can provide some small boost if you just need a bit of a perk. Most of this is probably solely-psycological.

Incidentally, I didnt find them particularly addictive, even after going through about two of the 96 packs in a fortnight during Year 13 for fun. They are dirt cheap and are sort of fun, I suppose.
For a start I said nothing about daily. I don't need it daily. In fact I only have like three days where I am at college over 3 hours...in class anyway...

Secondly, I was on anti depressents. Things like that don't get me addicted. I can barely remember to take antihistemeens when I'm suffering from hayfever!

Thirdly, did I say JUST 8 hours of sleep? No, and no I actually don't need 8 hours. I suffered from insomnia, I learnt years ago that I need like 5. I get a minimum of 8 now.

On another note, I've already had all the bloodwork done that you can imagine. Including an ECG. I collapse a lot and they still can't figure out what's wrong. My blood is great, even the pressure, as is my heart. I get enough sleep. There's nothing wrong with me that my doctors can detect.
I've just taken one...have a nice all-night essay crisis coming up! I think they're gnerally harmless providing you stay within the limits and don't take them if you're taking any of the medications listed on the leaflet inside (do read this).
As other people have said though, they're really intended as a short-term, once in a while solution like a busy day on not much sleep, or a work crisis, not as a solution for everyday tiredness with no apparent reason. And 8 hours may welll not be enough for you - I feel very knackered on only 8 hours a night (though at the moment 8 hours a night would be nice!).

That doens't seem dangerous. There's only 50mg caffeine per pill. A cup of coffee contains 100 mg. I wouldn't have more than 4-6 pills per day though. And if you drink a lot of coffee, tea, coke or something else that has caffeine I wouldn't touch the pills. I like to take my daily caffeine dose by drinking coffee because it's delicious and save the caffeine pills for extremely busy times.

A tablet of pro plus contains double a red bull, I know all the side effects, we were reading the thingy in the box. My friend is addicted to cafine so she has them in her bag. Not the best person to ask, she's addicted as I say. But not to the tablets, to the caffine. She can replace tablets with coffee when not in college.

That's all I need them for, just a wake up. Nothing extravagant. Just a perk a few days a week.

There's nothing cool about pro plus in our college. Very few people use them which is why I'm asking here. Relying on things like that is seen as weak...

i guess it has its good sides and bad sides.
like one time i took one about i think it was 6 or 7pm and cos i was tired and me and my boyfriend were going out for our anniversary i need/wanted to stay up cos i knew we'd up up staying up quite late.......so i took one and i didnt start to feel tired anymore but then around 3:30am my boyfriend fell asleep but i couldnt sleep cos of pro plus arghh i didnt think it lasted that long and i didnt end up getting to sleep until like 9am but i could only sleep for 3 hours which sucked.
that will teach me.

sometimes i find that pro plus takes a while to work which is strange.

i think i kinda prefure drinking red bull instead
I can't do that. I have very little money and no morning time. So I can't get anything ready in the morning, and can't afford to buy coffee in Barnsley center....and I don't drink fizzy junk.
A tablet of proplus contains double red bull?!
Everyone was well hyped about these, so I was excited, and got some.. but they didnt do anything (I took 2 or 3).. So I'll try taking more than that, but seriously.. they didnt make me more awake at all, or hyper.. *sob*!!

A can of Red Bull: Taurine 1000mg, Glucuronolactone 600mg, Caffeine 80.mg, Inositol 50.0mg,
Niacin 20.0mg, Pantothenic acid 5.0mg, Vitamin B6 5.0mg, Vitamin B12 5.0ug,

Pro Plus: Each tablet contains the active ingredient: 50mg caffeine anhydrous Ph. Eur.

So the amount of caffeine in one Pro Plus really is quite small. One Pro Plus equals half a cup of coffee.

i knew a guy who liked to do stupid things and he took 7 or 8 in one go and he went crazy all day and he was shaking so much it was so strange.
he just went mental.
silly boy
i had lots of caffine strips (about 3 packs) and literally overdosed on caffine...i had the shakes, was halluconating and passed out

just be careful
hehe...that's easily done without pro plus though if you can drink fizzy...John from my english class found a drink like red bull only with more caffine at dirt price...he had like 10 in his break and almost jumped out of the 4th floor window he was that out of it. shaking, talking so fast we couldn't understand him....I would try them...but fizzy hurts my throat

I once had 4 of my 100 mg caffeine pills, the equivalent of 8 pro plus. I didn't mean to, I was supposed to take just two but I forgot that I had already taken them and took them twice. I felt really tired and was going out with friends, then and I fel super-energetic... And after a couple of drinks I went just crazy. It wasn't clever, son't try it!
LOL, well the leaflet does say not to take them and alcohol. You have to wait for the pills to get out of your system before drinking.
