im at Portsmouth Uni, not only is there a really long stretch of beach within a 10 min walk (and right next to most of the halls of residence) but just over the hillis some really great countryside, great for long walks, and muddy cycle rides. Portsmouth is also a great uni, has loads of history in the city, and is the home to the british navy (not sure if thats something to be bragging about tho!) So it fufills both criteria on sea and country, and has one of the best stretches of beach in England!

Crisps

Although it's been mentioned before, Aberystwyth is a great place to study amongst stunning scenery, with the sea 5 mins in one direction and the country 5 mins in the other. It really is a charming little place to be. I love it!

Also, Hull has a campus in Scarbrough (sp?), but I think it is only for education.
