The PLO condemns the disgusting over-use of the veto by the US against any resolution regarding punishing Israel.

The US has vetoed an Arab resolution at the UN Security Council condemning Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territories as an obstacle to peace.

All 14 other members of the Security Council backed the resolution, which had been endorsed by the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO).

Israel thanks the United States for this display of solidarity with us. We regard the PLO's opinion as typical for a nation which has the death penalty for any Arab who sells land to a Jew. This proves exactly why settlements are necessary - non-Islamics are not safe under PA rule.

The PLO thanks all the other 14 nations, and calls for a re-think on this system

Since 1983 almost every resolution critical of Israel has been vetoed by the US, halting peace processes and prolonging poverty in the occupied territory.

Afghanistan is dismayed by the decision of the US and sees any settlement expansion in occupied terrirtory as illegal.

Canada also maintains that settlement expansion is illegal and condemns it as a barrier to peace. Peace in the middle east is a high priority not only for Canada but also for the international community and we call on America and Israel to listen. We still remain strong allies with Israel however and wish for peace between her and her neighbours.

Brazil also condoms this move by the United States, and thus supported this resolution in the Security Council. The settlements have been deemed illegal under international law, and it appears that the rest of the Security Council can appreciate this. Until every nation does, Brazil believes that little progress will be made towards peace.

Nigeria is disappointed by the Obama Administration, who promised to try and bring peace to this troubled region. Peace cannot be achieved while the US continues to act in this way.

[ooc] Condoms this move?

Ahem, anyway I'll be making a statement on this within the next day or two. [/ooc]
