Hello,

could you tell me how the GPA system in the UK works?
I'm not quite sure if it's the same like the one we use here in Germany. I understand the First Class, Upper Second class...stuff but I'm not sure when it comes to 2.0, 2.5 and so one. I thought that 1.0 would be the best (like it is in my home country) but recently I read something, that 4.0 would be the best (or does this only apply to the US and not the UK?).

So for instance, when I obtain a 2.3 here in Germany, that would translate into an Upper Second Class degree in the UK. But would that also translate into a 2.3 in the UK or rather something like 3.0?

I hope you understand my question.
Thanks for your help.

Christoph

The UK doesn't have a GPA system, it's all percentage and classification.

In the USA, 4.0 is the best.

But in a conditional offer I got is stated: "This offer is conditional upon you completing your degree with a GPA greater than or equal to 2.0"
Therefore I am wondering what the GPA in the UK actually means.

It doesn't mean anything in the UK. What they mean is for you to get the 2.0 GPA in your country.
