In the next year I'd like to apply for arch course and, as I'm non-English, I have to prepare for the interview and the course in general. What books concerning art and architecture do you recommend if I want to knock the professors out?

Do they demand from freshers to know all those architectural terms straight away?

(I consider UCL, Cambridge, AA, Edinburgh)

One more thing - what coursebooks do you use in UK when preparing for A-levels in art history? Which are the best?

I know there are some threads about books for architecture student but I asked about one particular thing - i.e. what to read before the interview, as I wonder if they first of all pay attention to your knowledge on history of art and architecture or maybe rather modern architecture and
One more thing - what coursebooks do you use in UK when preparing for A-levels in art history? Which are the best?
...

I'm still hoping for some more helpful answers.

Try these to start off with:

http://www.kings.cam.ac.uk/study/und...hitecture.html
http://www.aaschool.ac.uk/AALIFE/LIB...eadingList.php

It is pretty easy to find recommended reading mate. Google should be your best friend here. Just type in: (name of architecture school) architecture reading list and bam!

You could always contact the unis too if you can't find a list.

Perhaps try Amazon's Listmania as well.

I've never had an interview where they wanted me to give other people's opinions on architecture only my own. Judging from your choice of username you'll do fine.
