I know its output power/input power x100 but how would you measure input power of a battery??

The output would be the p.d, but what would the input be?

There are a number of ways of describing the efficiency of a battery.
Are you sure it's power out/ power in?
Power is V times I.
A more likely definition is power delivered to external circuit / power generated
in other words
VI / EI where E is the emf of the cell and V is either the terminal pd or the pd across the "load" - that is, whatever it is in the external circuit that the battery is meant to be powering.
