im doing Japanese, you? and ooh a bike is a good idea
I'm doing Law, we might meet in the dorms! Japanese is so cool I wish I'd taken up more languages, I was just so lazy. Yeah I think the distance is the only downside to Clarence Dock and a bike fixes that right up
Yeah I keep sort of dithering about HP, but when I was on an open day we went to see it and it looked kinda dingy. The only reason I'd want to live there is for the closeness to campus. I'm pretty lazy
Yay Zoologists! I haven't seen many people on here who are doing my course at Leeds. Clearly we all get pet badgers when we start the course.
My mate has Reading as an insurance, so when we're spazzing about exams we just dramatically flop to our desks, like "damn we're gonna end up at Reading!"
See I'm really lazy too, I bought a Stagecoach unirider for college despite living only 10 minutes away! It literally takes longer to walk sometimes because of the wait for buses
Hahaha I'll definitely introduce you if you're in my dorms or something! To be perfectly honest I think I'll just be stuck inside playing on my Xbox all day
Reading is my insurance but it's actually AAB because Leeds was AAA but Access to Leeds brought it down to ABB so I'm kinda screwed if I don't get my grades! Hahaha I know the feeling I'm proper ****ting it I really hope I get in, I absolutely love Leeds!
Oh Thanks, least i can do the football and basketball, dodgeball and volleyball would be fun
The list I put down before is what they've done this year but if enough people are interested in something different, there's always the possibility. And Lupton won the Shield this year.

ahhh law thats so cool you're gonna be minted when you're older then hahah but yeah languages are my strong point i think, I tried chemistry for AS and didnt get above a U, so being a scientist is out of the question but yeah i loooove Japanese
Has anyone else applied for North Hill Court? I'm beginning to worry that I'll spend the year just wandering about a completely empty accommodation like a lonely little ghost. Or, y'know, hanging out with the JBP bunch, but I'd still quite like a little company in my own place :P
Hey! Just a random question that I know other universities differ on; how strict are Leeds about posters/hanging picture frames? I was thinking North Hill Court in particular... with a vague hope that they wouldn't notice if I put a nail in the wall. Thanks
Don't know if anyone else answered this - but I was talking to outlaw-torn about this (she lives in NHC) and she said that she asked first and they were fine about her putting one in.
Hi, how many choices do we get when applying for accommodation? Thanks
1 only I'm afraid, though you do get to list other priorities (e.g. distance, price, en-suite, catered, etc.) so that they can try and put you somewhere you'd like if your choice is full. Also there is an "other" box in the preferences bit which some people use to cheekily say what their second preference of halls would be

I did, but changed it to Lupton - however I know there definitely are a couple of people who have. spazzypaddy has, I think.

Thanks for the swift reply Wow, only one? Ah ok, that kind of makes the decision process harder.. Haha, thanks for the help much appreciated I have no idea what to pick.
I'm thinking of going for the catered option with a standard room, preferably on campus.. but these halls (Lyddon and Ellerslie) seem so small. Will I be able to meet enough people and make enough friends? Is a hall off campus an annoyance?

If we did this would it be totally ignored? What would be my second choice isn't usually oversubscribed (so I've been told) so would there be any use putting it as a preference in that box?
Or shall I just try and get my preferences to fit it...?

Think she once said it's worth putting in but the computer doesn't always pick it up

You might as well put it in (what will it take you - 10 seconds? worth the effort I'd have thought) as long as you bear in mind that, like dmz said, it may not get picked up.

Every room will be taken at the start of the year - especially somewhere like NHC which is very oversubscribed (there's only 80 places so it doesn't take many applications (81, to be precise ) for it to be oversubscribed)

do you know if the tannery's oversubscribed yet cos i've found a bit too many people applying, this is good if it means i still get a place

Yes and no, in that order.
There's over 100 people in each - you're probably not even going to know everyone's name by the end of the year. I bet there were only about 30 in your class at school and you made friends there so with 4 times that amount - no worries And if a hall off campus is an annoyance then over 80% of Leeds students must be very annoyed - living on the campus is the exception at Leeds, not the norm. It's so easy getting around (even if you're at Bodington) and an awful lot of your "going out" socialising (as opposed to doing stuff at the halls) will be in the city centre or in Headingley rather than on the campus.
It wasn't on 13 May but applications don't close until July 1 so there's still loads of people who haven't applied yet. The most applications as at 13 May were for James Baillie Park and Charles Morris Hall, about neck and neck.
