Best Proof of ID Card?

Can anyone recommend one? I've seen CitizenCard, Validate and a few others, but are there any that people on here have?

I don't have Driving Licence and my passport expired over a year ago; I'm not going abroad in the near future, so I'm not paying £80 to renew it. All I have at the moment is a BITE Card (Be Identified Throughout Essex) not sure if anyone outside of Essex has heard of these, and that's from year 9!

apply for a provisional licence?
Most places will only accept passport or driving licence. Just get one.

apply for a provisional licence?

Doesn't do the job :frown: I once went into HSBC with my expired passport, birth certificate, all the details my school had with my head of year signing it and handwriting "I prove that so and so is a student here" etc, current bank card and statements and the BITE Card - this apparently wasn't enough to prove I am who I am...
100% success rate.

Spoiler

yeah passport and driving licence is the safest bet...but yeah as you mentioned citizencard and validate uk are good as well...but you're gonna have spend some money i think

Yes it does?

Are you trying to get into the Whitehouse or something?
I may be wrong here, but I vaguely remember that when applying for an NUS card, for a bit of extra money you can get an ID card as well? But for me a provisional licence does the job in most places. In my experience, even in the bank they accept provisionals if it's an emergency and you do a signature sample for them
CitizenCard.

It's risky having your passport around when you're getting smashed. And I can't get a provisional due to Epilepsy.
So many places will only accept driving licence or passport, so get one or the other.

Firstly: A BITE card is not a legal proof of identity or well known one rather. So no place is under obligation or rather public pressure to accept one. IE: If you give the local offie your BITE Card and they say no - then that means no. But give them a Driving Licence and they say no - people will cause a furore)

Secondly: When you decide to do something outside of Essex - You cannot use a Be identified throughout ESSEX card say in London or Southampton.

Thirdly: No bank or other official place of business would accept a BITE card for proof of ID.

MORAL OF THE STORY: You are better off with a driving licence or a Valid Passport. CitizenCard may be good enough but in some cases cannot substitute the real deal. CitizenCard cannot help with opening bank accounts and legal business etc.... and opening a job, registering Births,Deaths,Marriages etc...

Banks do not accept expired passports. All bank branches in my area anyway.
Birth Certificates say at the bottom: WARNING THIS IS NOT A PROOF OF IDENTITY (Something like that) Any guy your age could use your Birth Cert. and fake being you if possible.

No Bank accepts a BITE card. This is for small business in Essex I presume so a bank with a HQ in say Leicester wouldn't accept one

I've been using my out of date passport for years - if they are just checking your age they don't really care if its out of date....

Your prov should have a digital signiture and your photo. So always accepted. NUS gives you an international student ID to say you are merely a student but does not prove ID.

I used it to open many bank/saving accounts and it worked a charm

If you arent going to actually drive or anything and use it as a form of ID purely then why not just get one anyway. I thought people with epilepsy could drive or at least get a licence.

If you think about it, someone might have a seizure whilst driving causing an accident. Even a millisecond long seizure (which is my typical type) could be disastrous.
So it's fairly standard that an epileptic wouldn't be given a license. Not even a provisional.
Just get a provisional or a valid passport. Both come in handy for other things (driving, holidays)

If you have epilepsy and want to drive, there's a time period where you can't have any seizures before you're allowed to drive. Think it's a year or 2. If you have a seizure within that time then you have to wait again. Basically if you're epileptic and REALLY want to drive then that's what you'd do but it's not really worth it.

I'm not using this as a way to buy drinks in a bar/club. I've had endless things that needed doing but couldn't because they require a proof of identity and a proof of address. Quite honestly,if I was an illegal immigrant, I wouldn't go to the effort of faking expired passports of some 13 year old lad, open bank accounts and create several months worth of statements, attend a school where I am then issued this BITE Card (which is proof of age rather than identity) then study at this school so I could get a head of year to sign the school's details of me. Surely this proves I am who I am. Fact of the matter is, I am not going to learn to drive at astronomical expense just to prove who I am. Nor am I going to spend £80 renewing a passport for the purpose of proving who I am every now and again.

The question was which is the best proof of identity as I don't have a DL or valid passport.

Well as soon as I magically find the money to pay for lessons, a car and astronomical insurance, I'll learn to drive. I am not going on holiday in the foreseeable future, and probably won't ever again, so I'm not renewing a passport that I'll never use when I can get a card at about £15 that does the job I need it to.

It's a year. And tbh I wouldn't want to drive knowing my condition. I can't imagine anyone would if they knew they could just slip off at any moment and kill themselves. Scares the **** out of me...

And I'm not even seizure free for a day let alone a year.
