Land Economy Cambridge Interview

Due to Land economy just stating it involves economics,law, and evironment I really do not know what to expect from the interview.
Can people advise me on what I should prepare for this interview I really have no clue revise economics and geography?????

Noel is far too busy being a social butterfly to come on here :p:

revise any subjects you do that relate to the course, read any books that you said you had done on your PS, keep up to date with current affairs and re-read any written work you submitted. Which college have you applied to btw?

People, you'll give me a reputation!!

I am having a break from my god awful essay, and randomly decised to check this site out again!

OK, for my interview I read the economist every week; it's a really good magazine- concise and informative. I researched all current issues too, such as EU, single currency, China's econonic boom etc.. As well as these I was asked on regional policy and how to overcome regional indifferences and stuff. It's been a while and I've forgotten most of the stuff I was asked (sorry!)

However, it will depend on your interviewer and your A levels as to what you are asked. My interviewer specialises in economics, so he asked me on economics. Nevertheless my friend at Queens was asked on the American legal system.

Make sure you know how to answer things like; what is Land Economy?

Be yourself, relax and believe in yourself! lol how motherly do I sound?

so it's quite likely that my interviewer will ask me about their fav topics/their research area?

I wouldn't say "law, economics and environment" :p:

maybe elaborate a wee bit :biggrin:

Your interviewer might not necessarily ask you about their research area so don't think you need to spend hours googling whoever it is - one of my interviewers didn't know anything about any element of land economy, he was just there to be an argumentative tosspot :rolleyes:

despite what I've just said, who are your interviewers?

Dr Wingfield? Are you applying to Trinity then? (Sorry if you already said you are, I can't read, or at least can't be bothered). He is the Tutor for Admissions at Trinity and has something to do with Music iirc.

Kontoleon does environmental economics and has worked with the OECD, the European Commission and the World Bank. Big boss of paper 5 (Environmental economics, law and policy), one of the papers you can choose for year 2/3 :smile:

do the interviewers care about your accent? difficulty to hear what u say must be disadvantage hah? cause im oversea, and sometimes its hard to find the word... :frown:

anyone knows about Ielts thing? i gonna have Ielts exam on 3th, 2 days b4 my interview :cool:

...i want to send my result straight to the adm office, about 1 week after that. my previous one was in june 04 and not that good :frown:

...now i can get an 8 and it could make my file looks much better? do u think? thay ask for a 7 normally.

do they usually answer 1 week after the interview?

Funny lil accent story...
at my interview i couldn't understand what one of my interviewers was saying, so I said so...the poor guy blushed so bad and apologized profusely...i think he thought it was because i was 'foreign'. :wink:

(Although I lived abroad, English is my first language and i dont speak any other language.)
Seriously, if you dont understand, just say so, they dont mind repeating :smile:

I think it varies depending on college - Catz is a really small friendly community and all my friends oustide are people i knew before I came here really, my main body of firends is in college cos thats where I spend msot of my time. With some subjects, like music and philosophy, there's so few of you inc ollege doing it you tend to make more friends in your subject.

I started to feel so guilty and my nervous index is now 9.5/10 because of the fact that I decided to prepare nothing since i got the interview letter ( or far before that ..)- and my interview is coming in 10 day time which 3days im going to a music show... :frown:

..and one day for Ielts exam...2 others to finish my econs coursework..damn it...why did those profiles made me so easeful to hear "cant prepare-be urself"

don't feel quilty/nervous! :hugs:

I was in a big mad stressy rush before my interview, only reading the books I'd said I had read on my PS the night before the interview! LE is actually quite hard to prepare for as there's no test to look up previous year's papers for and there's not really any 'must-read books'. Just know the theory behind any relevant subjects you're doing and keep up to date with current affairs and developments in the subject :smile:
