Be smart, but make sure its functional, you may find that you will be 'introduced' to some of the residents.

Are you sure you want to do this. On some occasions you may find yourself having to restrain people with some serious force (including having to do some serious damage)
i think that you living close by to the hospital will be a definite plus for you, cause it means youll be able to demonstrate punctuality.

in the interview they might present you with scenarios and ask you how you'd deal with them, for example with it being in a mental hospital-what you'd do if someone got aggressive or confrontational

have you had previous cleaning experience before? that will go in your favour, how you'd deal with certain types of spillages etc

also as far as making sandiwches and the like goes, it may look good if you can demonstrate a knowledge of different types of dietary needs, for example diabetics...

they'll prob ask you why you want to do it so as long as you've thought it through you should be alright, just dont say your only doing it for the money because that might be a put off.

I'm sure I want to do this. I have of course grown up playing in this hospital with my mates (its in the countryside) and I feel perfectly comfortable around the inmates. Don't worry yourself

There is no way a domestic assistant is going to restrain anybody. Cleaning is one thing and managing higly chalanging behaviour is another. Anyone who restrains patients needs to be properly trained to make sure they are not going to either use serious force or do any damage, not to mention serious. It is not some kind of Victorian institution where inmates are chained to the wall you are going to work in I hope .

Actually, some doors are unlocked for patients. Only the murderers are kept behind bars and that. I believe you'd only restrain when in your good judgement is appropriate as in when they start punching you or kicking you and a nurse isnt around

The thing is, you are not alowed to restrain anybody no metter what unless you have been trained and authorised to do so. Otherwise you can do what is required to protect yourself from injury. The best method is clearly to leave and summon help not to try to restrain sb. Good advice: always have open door behind you and do not turn your back on service users.
