The Student Room Group

Um, dilemma...

OK. Well I've been at my job for just over 2 weeks now, and although it's not ideal (M&S food hall, mostly stacking shelves, sigh), it was going ok, all the people are nice etc. Well, there was this guy who was sometimes there in the stock room who used to always stop and smile at me and be like 'Hello, how're you doing?' etc, which was weird but kind of nice, if you see what I mean. Anyway, I didn't think anything of it but then the other day he stopped me and asked me my name (even though it was on my nametag, lol) and where I was from, so I told him. Then he was like, so, could you maybe give me your number, I could call you? etc... And I totally didn't know what to do!! I mean, I don't know him at all. Also, I was looking SO scruffy - my hair straighteners had broken that morning and I couldn't be bothered to do my makeup properly. So he can't want to know me for my looks. And I've only ever said 'hi' to him a few times, so he can't want to know me for my personality. Maybe he just tries it on with all the new people... I was going to ask someone else at work but am slightly embarassed lol.

I'm not the sort of person who gets asked for my number... It was weird and I told him I'd think about it cos I didn't know what to say and now I'm having to avoid him. What to do???

Looks are not always important, it depends what you are looking for!!

Thanks people, I know I should do something... but I've never gone out with anyone before, ever, and to start the whole process with someone I don't know at ALL seems to be a bit in at the deep end... dyou see what I mean? I always thought it'd be easier to kinda get to know someone first n then... I don't know! Plus I'm more attracted to people's personalities than looks, and I just don't know him at all, and I'm not sure I want to... though I don't know, maybe I'm just lazy lol!

Aargh...

wow you do repeat yourself! a definite sign of being unsure...

well hey, i think go for it and just get to know him, it's not like you have to commit anything more unless you want to in future

Well, I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I finally gave him my number today - he caught me once and said I hadn't been in on Tuesday (he noticed...), but I had to rush back to a customer. Then I went back and he said he really wanted my number and to be "good friends" and that he would treat me well etc... I was like hmm well ok then. I'm still not sure though. He was waiting for me for like half an hour after work, but I had to go straight home cos my mum was waiting for me in the car.

Am I being an idiot worrying about all this? I'm just not v confident in general and I don't really know how to act in this sort of situation...

He rang me FOUR times after work, to see where I was to try and meet me. I was like, err I'm getting in my car...!

Hahaha advice = don't ever see him outside work of your own free will.

Today he told me I was 'inestimably beautiful'.

Talk is cheap :p:
