nope! i assume ucl is super competitive though so that's why they take so long, plus organizing interviews takes ages anyway right? my friend applied for anthropology there and she has an interview early decemeber. hmm...

Reply 2

I know of people with interview offers for Geography at UCL..

I haven't heard for History yet and neither has anyone else I know applying for History at UCL.

Reply 3

nighthawk have you heard from durham?x

Reply 4

Not yet. Only heard from Birmingham. You? Am sure some will take a little while yet.

Reply 5

i have only heard from manchester (conditional AAB with A in hist) and Queen Mary for an interview. was just wondering as someone on here has already heard from durham! which college did you go for?x

Reply 6

I did get one applying last year. Think it was either in December or early 2005 (i remember it being freezing cold!)

Word of warning, even though they accepted me after the interview they are complete and utter bastards when interviewing. Relentless, vicious and ruthless. They will try and catch you out on everything so do not try and ******** your way through. They'll make you look like an idiot.

Reply 7

ouch! that would really put me off a place. did you end up going?x

Reply 8

I'm sure if you pass the interview you'll be fine. I imagine they're only so ruthless to help dwindle down the numbers for what is a very competitive course and see if you can 'take the heat'.

I didn't end up going, chose University of East Anglia instead and haven't looked back since.

i live overseas so ucl isn't interviewing me. but they're making me send them an essay and fill in this questionaire with a bunch of typical 'why do you want to do history' questions. after history s paper today (which is the predecessor to the AEA in the uk) i'm ****ing sick of them 'what is history' questions.

but i'm sure you lot will be fine. just keep cool. and read in defence of history by richard evans before you go.

Same process for me.

They ask you to send in an essay and a questionnaire. This is the precursor to an interview. If they're impressed by what you've sent they will ask you to come in for an interview. They will ask you about your essay and your personal statement, what you put in your questionnaire etc etc.

I don't know if they will ask you aswell Scot if you're from overseas :s-smilie:

In Defence of History is absolutely brilliant! Its a much easier read that Carr or Elton and Evans seems so much more open minded. Recommended for philosophers as well as historians x

what kind of qustions did they ask you? the question sheet they gave you before the interview, did they ask you anything from it. in what ways did they try and catch you out?
You've got me really nervous now.

I haven't. UCL rejected me without interview. (AAB predictions, average GCSEs, pretty good PS). It's annoying that Oxford which is a lot better university than UCL interviewed me yet UCL simply rejected me without an interview. I don't really care though, I don't think I want to stay in London for uni.

Still waiting for a reply from UCL....

I haven't heard anything... but I guess considering that my GCSEs are blah (including a B in History.. woo :frown: ), I'm not predicted all As and had to put down my D in AS Chem last year, I should be thankful I haven't been rejected yet

I had a B in history GCSE... predicted B for A-level too... Well, a guy can hope
