If I have 5 different solutions to test, do I have to use a zero before each new tube is placed in the colorimeter or can I just set a zero at the start and place each test tube in one after the other? Hope you understand me.

In theory if you have a good colorimeter then if you zero it once it will remain calibrated.

Yeah I think it depends. With the old crappy ones we had at school, we had to zero it between each different reading that you take.
Or you could use a spectrophotometer? they are better

Unfortunately the school doesn't have spectrophotometers for us to use.

Depends on how good the colorimeter is, with our ones at school we set it once, but if yours isnt so good i suggest doing it after each one, after all it cant hurt. :p:

oh nevermind then. well yeah if they are old i'd suggest doing it each time, otherwise you might take a whole set of readings and only realise after that they're all dodgy
