The Student Room Group

TSR Geography Society (GeogSoc)

Welcome to the TSR Geography Society aka GeogSoc!
:wavey:

Come in and chat about anything and everything geography related.

You can also join the brand new social group for GeogSoc here.

I'll introduce myself. I'm Student2806, although in real life people tend to call me Peter  I'm a final year (4th year) Geography undergrad at the University of Glasgow in bonnie (and rainy) Scotland, although I'm originally from equally rainy Durham. But 4 years isn't enough, and I've applied to a Masters in the more specialised field of public transport planning.
I'm also Secretary General of the TSR's Model United Nations and Leader of the TSR Liberal Democrats, but my number one love is geography

Oh, why not.

I'm Hugh and as the sig suggests I'm a 2nd year Geoggers undergrad at Leicester with a focus on physical geography and GIS/remote sensing. I'm from sunny Kent (which I miss on a daily basis) and I have no idea what I want to do with my life. At the moment my plan is to go off and join the merchant navy as a deck officer and put that geographical knowledge into action. Lots of maps, weather predictions, oceanography, etc. - sounds like fun! Perhaps when I'm a bit older and wiser I'll come back and do an MRes and PhD.

I may not quite love Geography at the moment because I've got a ton of coursework and my dissertation to do, but when it's awesome it's awesome

Cool, I'm currently studying Geology but in the Engineering aspects. Do you guys think we would have a more peaceful planet if Pangaea still existed?

Hi everyone, I know this thread is a bit outdated, but I just wanted to share my passion for geography! :P
I really can't understand why the Geography society isn't more popular?

One believes that not all TSR Geographers are aware of this soc!

Yeah that's odd :/

Most geography courses focus on both sides anyway because it gives the degree more depth, especially in the first year. The degree I have chosen to do at Exeter's Cornwall campus is a BA/BSc, so you get to decide which route to take in your second year when you have developed your interests a bit more.

I know this is completely irrelevant to geography, but I just realised we're both from swindon. I live in North, near the Orbital  Guessing you go to New then.

I was thinking about applying for the Cornwall campus, but I feel like it's too far away :/
