I know this is completely irrelevant to geography, but I just realised we're both from swindon. I live in North, near the Orbital  Guessing you go to New then.

I was thinking about applying for the Cornwall campus, but I feel like it's too far away :/

Oh awesome hello! Nope I go to the ridgeway school sixth form in wroughton.

It is very far away but then I thought at the end of the day no matter how far away we go it will still be away from home. My only problem will be the travelling as it takes almost 5 hours on the train to get there! And I have never been on a train by myself before!

Oh cool, I got to Ciren

I suppose, I wouldn't mind being far away as long as the train wasn't to expensive I guess. Have you checked how much it is? If it's not too much I might have a look in to it. Don't want to feel like I can't go home.

The trains fine on your own, you just need to make sure you're on the right one haha. Plus because you're going down to Cornwall you'll probably get the two seats to yourself!
Geographerrrssssss

Hey all, so results day (for A-level students) next week Thursday. I don't really want to think about it, lol (even though I mentioned it :colondollar:)

How is everyone doing, and what are you doing in relation to Geography, if anything?

Yes, with a rail card it's between £20 and £30 for a single depending on how early you leave. The prices seem to differ a lot! Plus some of them only have 1 change over but others have 3.

I'm trying not to think about it either.:s-smilie: I am writing a project, on a local urban regeneration project near me at the moment, which I have mentioned in my personal statement. I also have been writing geography related posts on my blog, astronomy, geography and more

Thanks :angelblush:What can I say, I love geography. Wasn't always like that though, before yr9 I hated geography, I remember dreading Wednesdays cause I had a whole morning of geography, that now would be wonderful :daydreaming:

Oh that's good! I'm looking into UCL and it will literally cost me upwards of 40 pounds just to get to London off peak right now

Great to see all these geography-lovers about

For those of you that don't know me, I'm a recent geography graduate and TSR old-timer. These days I'm mostly involved with renewable energy and sustainable land & food management, but I still maintain an interest in a whole bunch of the other wonderfully broad and fascinating topics that fall under geography's remit!

Re: above discussion - I found a railcard pretty darn indispensable at uni; it's a great deal. I still buy one now and will probably continue to do so until I'm 25. It's even valid on 1st class tickets. Top stuff.

Congrats on graduating! Do you intend to continue studying? Or go into work?

How was it studying Geography at Oxford?

I'm starting AS Geography next year :h:

I actually enjoy geography, people think I'm weird and make all the bloody colouring in jokes:rofl:

It's the A Level I've taken just because I enjoy it and like the essays :teeth:

So not an undergraduate like you guys :colondollar:

same, none of my friends like geography and none of them have studied it at gcse. it's funny when they ask me questions like, 'so is Africa a country?'

 a good friend of mine is doing geography as well

So what does everyone here prefer? Physical or Human?
I prefer physical - can't beat jumping in rivers. I think my family will go mad if I make them watch another Eden program on mega thrust earthquakes or volcanos!

I'm off to Bath Spa in September, I'm doing geography, but concentrating on development and sustainability. I fell in love with that aspect when we went to the CAT in Wales as part of our camping/field trip ( involved getting very wet and drinking lots of cider!).

Hope you all get Geotastic results and get to where you want to go. Good luck Team Geography. (P.s. is it a bit sad that I have had a hoodie with 'team geography' on it made? I wear it everywhere! I see it as an excellent promotion tool, as everyone always asks what team geography is...)

I began by loving physical the most, i'm fascinated by plate tectonics and I love rivers too, my family thinks it's funny how every time it rains loads and the river near me rises I follow the river levels on the environment agency website lol. I think it stems from my geography fieldwork trip in yr10 I loved walking around in the river whilst most other people were moaning about how cold it was. But recently as I have learnt more about it I like human geography more, I enjoy learning about sustainability whether it be sustainable energy or sustainable urban areas, anything geographical is great.

:woo:

I prefer physical geography too!

It sucked that my GCSE coursework was on 'Urban Retail Change' and 'Tourism'. Although I enjoyed it in the end, got to analyse a lot:teeth:

Got 94/100, and that was harsh marking. Might go up in moderation

Is there any geology at A Level?
Aw this thread should be more popular...!

I'm heading into my final year of geography at UCL. I was so close to not taking it at A-Level but now I'm debating on whether to do a masters in the field ... How things change
