What would be the qualities, regarding both looks and personality, that would attract you to a girl? And if you both start talking, how would you stop the conversation from drying up? Just wondering because I sometimes find conversation with guys I've met for the first time really hard, and it'll seem as though I've just run out of things to say.

Oh, that's no fault of your own. Guys simply don't know how to converse. The gray matter in their brains that was meant to be used for conversational skills accidentally got replaced with extra sex-drive.

It's true.

You'd get different responses from different people. There is no objective answer.

Draw the conversation on them. Ask them questions about themselves, like if they study, what their job is, what their hobbies are (as long as it's not too personal).

Looks wise i would go for, a cute face with nice lips, a nice sporty like body not stick thin or to large.

Personallity wise i go for, kind, funny, takes a intrest in me doesn't matter if there abit shy i find that rather nice

Haha, there's a guy in one of my classes, I asked him what he did for his 18th birthday. Answer: "erm, nothing much." Answers me, and other people, in at max 2 word answers. Sigh...

But that's the thing, quite a few times they don't say much at all, leaving me to continue asking, such that I start to feel like I'm really annoying them. Am I just talking to really anti social guys??

lol i think some more guys need to help our defense in here :P.
I have never really had a problem with the convo drying up, if both people genuinely want to be there then its easy to keep talking i find. If it does stop for whatever reason then i would just talk about something from earlier on or something like that, just to get it started again, but it really should just flow, otherwise you might be around the wrong type of person :\.

I HATE it when they do that.
"How are you feeling?"
Fine..

"Did you have fun last night?"
Yeah 't was alright..
"Well what did you do then?"
Had a drink.
"Yes I know you did, anything else happen?"
Not really..

Sounds like a GREAT night out.

I know, it's so frustrating! I asked that same guy "You didn't drink any alcohol?" since it was his 18th, and his reply was "Maybe..."
I've stopped trying to talk to him now, haha...

i can only talk to people i am good friends with (and have stuff in common with), or am flirting with. im good at those ends. cant rly talk to people i dont know have nothing in common with and am not flirting with. which i think is not too uncommon....

You either click with someone or you don't - it just happens. You generally are attracted to people you click with, in my experience, as long as you aren't completely unattracted to them physically.

Haha you know, it really does seem that way though. Maybe it's just my environment that I'm in now, but it's just so hard to make them talk! Am looking forward to uni...

The law of sales:

You build instant rapport with 10% of people. Never will with another 10%. The 80% in the middle is the part to work on.

Another thing to bear in mind: The Two Types of Conversation and the associated gender split - Typically:

Men prefer to bond on common interests.
Women prefer to bond on shared secrets.
