Six pack help

Ok heres the situation. Ive been doing cardiovascular exercise for quite some time now half a year maybe more, every two weeks i increase the distances i run. My diet is one thing im concerned about because i am not seeing great results. I try my best to have a high protein intake by having chicken everyday, fish etc. i dunno if my carbohydrate is moederate enough though i mean what do you define as "moderate carbohydrate" in a diet. I occasionally have the muller yoghurt sometimes but apart from that i dont eat any chocolates or crisps no fast food crap. I eat fruit daily. Being in an asian family my mum makes chicken curry which i have most days maybe its because of this that i am not seeing an improvement ? I jog every other day, drink nothing but water, and at times do crunches, bench press once a week. (with dungbells). I know you have to get rid of the layer of fat to reveal your abs but man i dunno its taking ages. i mean how long does it take, i ve basically lost the "love handles" but still have stomach fat well actually not completely lost the handles. I have seen an improvement in my physique just dunno if im doing this the right way...please help !

i'm no expert, but cardiovascular exercise does what it says on the tin - it's mainly for the cardiovascular system (your heart and blood vessels). although this will make you fitter, boost your metabolism and loads of other stuff, it's not what people do to tone muscles.

well, there's toning muscles and building muscles. you might want to do your crunches and bench presses 3-4 times a week rather than just once. just don't overdo it.

the chicken curry is the first thing that concerns me. nearly everyday? that aint good. getting a 6 pack is a combination of losing the fat and building the muscles in my opinion. doing 'a few crunches a week' like you were saying will not build the muscles up much at all. what kind of things do you eat and at what times? when do you do your cardiovascular work?

wrong. tone is just low bodyfat on muscle achieved by good nutrition and proper cardiovascular work. people seem to think that doing high reps on low weights and stuff will tone. building your muscles up then doing cardiovascular work will tone.

Perhaps you just need to give it time... I've heard that if you lose weight quickly fat stores on your stomach, so perhaps if you just keep doing what you're doing slowly your stomach will 'get used to it' and the fat will start to go.

who the heck did you hear that from? please dont listen to this person

Thanks that's very kind of you.
I read it in a magazine, maybe I didn't describe what I meant properly.

For the record Emily is right
Cut out the six-packs (of lager) for a good six pack.

You're doing too much cardio and not enough weights or ab excercises.

Try this website, it's really helpful:

http://www.shapefit.com/workout-routines.html

As well, most gyms give you the option of taking 1-2 sessions with a trainer so that it's not a long-term commitment, but those 2 sessions is usually all you need to get enough advice out of the guy. They help you come up with a routine that'll help you achieve the goals you want.
That's what my bro did... according to him, "Pakistani guys are naturally the scrawniest, so we need all the help we can get"

you really think so? care to explain?

Thanks that's very kind of you.

sorry if i seemed a wee bit rude but you shouldnt give out incorrect information like that. you should explain what you mean properly. yes losing weight fast is unhealthy, no it doesnt make more weight go on your stomach. but is he trying to lose lots of weight? all he is trying to do is tone his stomach

Well i dont know the specific details about it, but i read it alot of times before and done it in the kinda way emily said shes read.... and without sounding big headed i gota great 6pac because of it
Reply 11
all she said was that losing weight fast will make your body store more fat onto your stomach which is completely wrong. so how have you 'done it' the way she has?

so perhaps if you just keep doing what you're doing slowly your stomach will 'get used to it' and the fat will start to go.

This part of what she said will help you out slightly with your question
dont you have to have a specific amount fat to have a six-pack? Because I know a person who has a six pack, but doesn't actually do all these excercises and diet

Yeah alot of people are lucky and can get a 6pac with not much effort at all

the less fat, the better. some people just naturally have an ultra fast metabolism so they always have abs showing without dieting or exercising correctly and then there are the rest of us who have to work hard to get there.

Alright calm down why are you getting so worked up about it for????
if you must know i keep it simple by doing sit ups and press ups everyday,
and a light workout with the weights on occasions.
Im naturally slim thoe so it helps abit

Buddy, what is wrong with you? This really wasn't meant to be a debate thread.
