2(x+1)(x-4) - (x-2)² = 0
(2x+2)(x-4)-(x-2)(x-2)=0

Can you do it now?
..If not

2x²-8x+2x-8 - (x²-2x-2x+4)=0
2x²-8x+2x-8 -x²+2x+2x-4=0
x²-2x-12=0

a=1 b=-2 c=-12

x=[2±√(4+48)]/2
=(2±√52)/2 <== √52 is the same then 2√13
=(2±2√13)/2
=1±√13
