Hi Guys Iam Really Suffuring With Ma Math S Statistics Course Work Please Help Me..................
How To Select Datas Randomly(120) In 1183 Datas(in Proper Mathamatic Way)
The easiest way is to number all your data items (1, 2, 3 etc) and then use simple random sampling to pick the number you need. Use Ran# on a calulator. So if you have got 1183 pieces of data use 1183Ran#+1 the + 1 means that it will include the number 1183, not just up to it. Then juts press the = as many times as you need, only use the whole part of the number, (eg: 18.56879, use 18 - no need to round.)
Advantages of this method is that it is non-biased and quick and easy to do. Disadvantage is that it is not always represntative of the population. For coursework if you mention in the 'improvement' section that it is not representative and cluster sampling would have been better but more time consuming this should do.
It can also take a while to do.
i.e. if there are significant repetitions.
it would also be helpful if i knew what you were saying.
