The video game BAFTA winners for 2011, across 16 categories, are due to be announced this coming week, on Wednesday 16 March. Here's the post from the BAFTA website: http://www.bafta.org/awards/video-ga...0,1656,BA.html

Thoughts/predictions? Which games do you think should win? Perhaps a little depressingly, I'm fairly sure that CoD is likely to pick up the GAME award, given that it's determined by votes from the public. It's good to see that Red Dead's at least getting a showing there, though, with Rockstar otherwise still boycotting the awards.

A well-deserved fellowship for Peter Molyneux as well is great to see!

The past 2 years have been won by the respective CoD of that year.

The fact that Red Dead Redemption is nominated for so little upsets me.

Publishers have to nominate their games for the awards (with the exception of the GAME award), and Rockstar refuse to. :sigh: GTA IV's emphatic lack of awards here being the reason.

Yeah, can't wait till he gets on stage and makes a speech about his upcoming game that will revolutionise the very core of our gaming experiences and change the world. Then we get the game which under delivers.

I'll let him get away with a lot given the greatness that is Dungeon Keeper :p:

Only played 7 of those, so can't form an opinion on many categories. But I'd give Heavy Rain the audio, gameplay and the innovation ones. And probably Red Dead for overall.

My picks (what I think *should* win, not necessarily what I think will :p:):

    Action: Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood
    Artistic Achievement: Heavy Rain/LIMBO
    Best Game: Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood/Mass Effect 2
    Family: Don't care :p:
Gameplay: Now this is a hard one... Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood/Mass Effect 2/Super Mario Galaxy 2 - all of those are fantastic!
Handheld: I'm not a fan of God Of War, though I don't it's supposed to be great on PSP - so either that or Super Scribblenauts
    Multiplayer: Battlefield: Bad Company 2
    Original Music: Heavy Rain
Social Network Game: Haven't played (or heard of!) any of them! :nah:
Sports: Haven't played any of them
    Story: Mass Effect 2
Strategy: How did Fallout get here? Anyway, Civilization V for me, though I see it going to Starcraft
Technical Innovation: Heavy Rain and dare I say it, Kinectimals, are the only ones that really seem to be doing much that I could consider techincal innovation...
Use of Audio: Couldn't really say
BAFTA Ones To Watch Award in association with Dare to Be Digital: Is not having heard of any of them a bad sign? :o:
GAME Award of 2010: Mass Effect 2 (though yes, Red Dead Redemption deserves *something*!)

I'd really like Alan Wake to pick up something decent, I felt it stood out from the crowd over the past couple of years...

Why is there no Bayonetta there? One of, if not the best game of 2010

If Black Ops gets any awards at all I'll die inside

How come Rockstar are boycotting it btw?
