If a dog kills a cat in the dogs yard/garden, what repercussions can it have on the dog/owner. I only ask because my dogs go blind with excitement when they see a cat and chase it till they can't see it anymore (they are brittany spaniels - which is a hunting dog, a pointer/chaser) and my neighbours cat regularly relaxes in our garden, and my dogs chase it out if they see it.

Obviously i don't want the cat to be harmed in anyway but theres not much i can do other than pay alot to have my dogs psychologically retrained.

I think you missed the point

Dogs chase cats.
The cat is in your dog's garden.
The cat will be chased.

In my opinion, I don't think you can be in the wrong. You can't ask your neighbour to keep their cat indoors, nor can they ask you to keep your dogs indoors.
The cat should eventually learn by itself to not go in your garden when the dogs are about.
