Sandwich Year Funding

im going on a shandwich year as ive got an internship for a year in USA.

but flights, visa and health insurance is going to cost £2000 ish.

the finance office and SU president both say there are no grants, loans help etc for me.

I've emailed my course tutor who is overseeing the sandwich year programme, she might have some ideas from previous students.

Im trying to get the council, parish council to give me some money but im not counting on anything.

Does anyone know any grant schemes or any help available??

I live in wrexham/shropshire and nmy uni is in gloucestershire so if anyone knows of any local grants or loans that would be great.

Anyone been on a sandwich year before im really excited to go but this financial stuff is weighing me down. surely theres got to be something out there to help sandwich year students???

Well you are usually paid if its in industry and you get half loan if it counts as part of your degree.

I made about 15k on mine
You get half a loan - it is a fixed rate.

Your uni may have some hardship funds you could apply for - ask them.

I assume you are going to get paid when you get there?
