My 3 friends and me are in our first year, and had to look for accommodation. We could only get a 5 bed house, so invited someone who we are acquainted with to live with us.

he didn't tell us, but he did really badly in his Jan exams, is having to resit a few, and his budget is quite low as he didn't apply for support. He didn't even tell us this, we had to find out from someone else.
I'm worried that he is going to drop out/reapply the year
BUT one of my friends (who was living with a large group) isn't living with them anymore and is living on his own. I told him this yesterday, and he said that if things didn't go through, he'd live there.
Which i would prefer to be honest, as he makes an effort to talk to me and my house mates every day, nice chap, isn't failing uni, and i actually know him. I don't feel i know the other guy well.
Now i can't get the idea of the other guy living with us out of my head, it would be so much better, but i don't know what to do. It would be well out of order to ask the original guy to go elsewhere, but then i was made lead tenant so surely i should know these things...?
Sorry for it being so long, does anyone have any advice?
