My Mum and Dad were once married but are now divorced. I live with my Mum who is single.

Do I enter 'Single' or 'Separated' on the Student Finance form?

EDIT: Or 'Divorced'??? Why is this form so confusing??? I think 'divorced' is probably the right one...

Divorced is the correct answer.

She'll also need to provide evidence in the form of a decree absolute/nisi or signed letter from solicitor confirming her marital status.

I think it's probably divorced in your case.

Does anyone know how to change from 'divorced' to 'single' after having completed the form? The divorce was in 1997 and my Dad isn't alive any longer, so I'd rather it be changed but don't know how. Did I even pick the correct option?

The status should still be divorced, even if your father has died as it is still technically your mother's marital status.

Otherwise it would technically be fraud. She'll need to send in a copy of her decree absolute.

Kind regards.
