Please help my further maths class settle our debate as to which out of Mechanics, Statistics and Decision is best and post any reasons why you prefer one module over the others

Mechanics wins everytime. It's perhaps the most challenging, but certainly the most interesting, in my opinion. I much prefer projectile motion to hypothesis tests, or simplex tableaus.

Mechanics is simultaneously useful and fun - it's probably the hardest (at the highest level, though haven't done S3 & 4), pretty straightforward if you've done physics, most useful for Uni (especially Maths, Physics, Engineering).

Stats is OK and mildly useful, but I found it rather tedious.

Decision is a pointless waste of time, but nice and pretty easy, if you don't want to do any work. This is not a good reason to do it.

    Mechanics every time.

Mechanics definitely, it seems much more relevant and interesting so far (started a few weeks ago). D1 was ridiculous and S1 seems pretty boring!

S1 was terrible but I found S2 and S3 really quite interesting, I find mechanics a bit repetitive and reminds me too much of physics decision (at A level anyway) is the worst thing to have happened to maths - in my opinion anyway

Why the hate for S1? I know it may be a little dull around the edges but where else would you find the following question- it begins by showing 2 people's approaches to picking lottery numbers.
'Tim and Steven are good friends. Tim says he has a greater probability of winning a Lottery prize than Steven. Steven disagrees and claims he has a higher probability of winning a prize. Who is right?'.
    Answer- Tim is right.
Result...they are no longer good friends?

Stats... useful maybe, and perhaps it was just the teacher, but it was always a lesson I couldn't wait to be over. Decision was so much fun! A nice break from all the core integration I guess, but didn't seem useful at all, it was all memory and no challenge.

Mechanics - I bloody love physics and mechanics is a huge help, as well as being a good challenge and just generally makes me appreciate applied maths a lot more! I'm a real-life situation kinda girl and it just clicked with me

M1 got a bit repetitive... M2 was harder but better and more varied, M3 is brilliant so far

Haha, this is one of the reasons why stats is definitely better than mechanics - the quality of stories are far better!

I did S1 two years ago now and remember not liking it too much but tbh I can't really put my finger on why

Mechanics probably most interesting. Statistics probably easiest, although I've heard many say Decision maths is easier.

mechanics by far and the best module is differential equations (but i think only MEI does this module)

I'm better at Statistics than Mechanics, but Mechanics is far more interesting.

Stats all the way!! Just an odd person that finds it really interesting

Although I hate stats (except probability) I repped you for being straight up.

Decision maths. Yes, D1 is ridiculous and pointless and rather silly... but it's easy to do well in.

Saying that, statistics (S1) was also quite nice and not too hard. I'm just biased towards D1 because I did better in it.
