What makes you say that? Even if you get a place for pure economics at London School of Economics, you'd still choose UCL? Fair enough I guess
    that's correct!

omg, with all the offers coming in, i'm pretty anxious to receive mine!

normally it comes at around midnight at where i am from...qn is, which day? haha

    All are straight economics degrees.

    17.10.11 Royal Holloway - ABB
    01.11.11 Leicester - AAB
    18.11.11 Southampton - AAA
    06.12.11 Loughborough - AAB
    07.12.11 Exeter - AAA

    I am predicted...
    Economics - A
    Maths - A
    Biology - A
    Chemistry - B
    Further Maths AS - A
    General Studies - B (obtained)

AND... I'm a 3rd year! :ahee: I'm so happy I got accepted into all of my choices as I was soooo worried I wouldn't!
what did you get last time round (alevel results), assuming you did your A2's in your 2nd year of alevel. and did you apply last year?

EDIT: ^ Jesus christ, can't you ask a simple academic question without people having a fit? I normally don't give a **** about reps/negs but this time I'm truly baffled - are people really that PC/sensitive these days?

I don't even get what's so offensive about my question that has attracted all those negs. How is asking for her original A2 results anymore insensitive than asking someone about their AS or predicted grades as so often happens in threads like these?

Thanks for the replies. Hmm do you mind elaborating on the reasons?
I'm mainly comparing them in terms of their undergrad teaching and course structure though, not including the city/lifestyles because they're so different.
I would say that Nottingham has the superior economics department but Durham's undergraduate teaching is probably better; smaller groups, more contact. However the course at Nottingham can be, depending on you options, much more quantitative than Durham which would be a big plus for me. In terms of getting a job, for something like accountancy/banking, where they know the economics departments I don't think that it would make much difference. However Durham is generally perceived as more prestigious than Nottingham so the "brand name" of Durham might open more doors.

I believe it may be because you posted your question in the wrong thread. The one you posted in was the "no discussion" thread. I've moved your post to the chat/discussion thread now

Nope, haven't heard from UCL yet but it seems like we're hearing from them on either this week or the next And damn, I should have applied for Econs with Year Abroad.

Since LSE is arguably one of the most competitive universities, many people have a full set of A*s. Relative to that, this wasn't much. Just take a look at the applicant page - for econ, it ranges from 5 to 10 currently. 6 is in the lower end, and this is only the applicants. It's a given that a typical offer holder will have more on average.

I wouldn't say something like that without some research or thought.

Besides, I think it was my teacher's reference was what did it...
