I'm going to join this thread even though I'm not strictly an economics applicant - Actuarial for me hopefully! But a lot of the stuff on here seems pretty relevant, and I need all the help I can get (my referee didn't even know what an actuary was ).

Anyway, good luck for tomorrow guys!

Good luck to everyone tomorrow and to those applying for Oxbridge especially to get the 90+ UMS average! It's been a tricky summer of examinations but I hope all of your hardwork shines through that fateful envelope!

I was going back and forth between that and economics for a long, long time....but when I went to the talks at UEA and then Southampton, I was just more drawn to the Actuarial. And I have been working towards being an Actuary since I first heard about the career by chance (a fair few years ago now).
Ideally I'd love to do MMORSE at Warwick, but I don't think I'm going to have the time to do STEP and everything else.

I did Economics and I'm considering becoming an Actuary. I'm guessing you get some exam exemptions if you do an Actuarial degree?

Up to 8 I believe (majority of places only offer up to 7 though), depending on where you go. A couple of maths, and finnance degrees offer exemptions as well, depending on the optional modules you choose.

I've pretty much decided I want a year in industry as well, which narrows down my choices a lot.

Well I would definitely still apply, you'll probably be beating me in Maths with that percentage! Your average percentage is 91.6% (best three for Economics) which is a very good set of results.

Thanks for the encouragement but I doubt I will...

What time are you collecting yours? Didn't you get 100% in economics in Jan?
    You'll be fine

I'm getting mine at noon, yeah.

I did, so I'm hoping for similar results.

Apply, else you may regret it.

Ah cool, I hope you get over 99%

Hmm that's what I'm afraid of, regretting it later on. But I'll have a think about it and ask some of my teachers for advice

Having seen Maths grade boundaries and mark schemes, a 99% average is impossible.
