I have just joined this forum in hoping I can get some answers as I am quite a worrier
I have decided to something I have always been interested in which is a degree in History.
At the moment I'm not working and currently signed off by my GP. I was receiving ESA since December 2010 until last week I had a medical assessment and they said I'm fit to work even though they I am actually not fit to. I was really shocked by their decision which was based only on questions (I didn't receive enough points), I'm signed off by my Dr and I have an operation in 2 weeks time (my second one). Anyway I'm appealing the decision. I was just wondering if any of you know does appealing the decision affect the OU funding application? I'm waiting for it to come in the post so I have no idea what they ask.
I am more than likely going to be on JSA by May if healing and recovering goes well. I was made redundant last March from my long term job, then I found a temp position and stayed there until I got a new full time job. Unfortunately, I got sacked during my probation period (due to the medical condition that appeared) the day my Dr's note expired and I had an appointment the next day.
So I know I haven't earned the 15k in the last year that is required but as I'm not sure what will happen during my appeal, I don't know if this will effect it. I really don't want to wait another year to start it. I have my hopes on starting it in October. I will be 30 soon so I already feel like I have wasted a lot of time.
I happened to stumble on the OU website which I was very pleased about so now I have high hopes I hope they don't get dashed.
I would really appreciate any help, thank you in advance

I don't think it'll have any effect whatsoever. if you are below the theshold that's all they care about. If you're not sure give them a ring. I've always been really impressed at how helpful the OU are on things like this.
