So yeah, this is an attempt at me expanding my friends circle. I am from Manchester, UK. Looking to get chatting to both guys and girls.

I know this isn't really in depth, I am not interested in a serious relationship at all, just friends and people to enjoy life with. I have a big network of friends already, I am interested in chatting to other people and thought this may open up some doors.

PM me if you want to chat!

"I have a big network of friends already" - Anyone else finding this extremely hard to believe.

I guess it is how you define "big". I am fairly happy with the size of my friend network. I just enjoy meeting new people and enjoy getting to know them, I am sure there are people on here like me who do enjoy meeting people.

I have quite a small circle of friends. All down to my shyness, insecurity and lack of self-confidence to go out there and get to know more people - terrible combo!
I know when I've failed socialising when I have more online friends than friends in real life?

If you enjoy meeting people then why are you asking people on here to talk to you?

Different people are on here to those who you approach/approach you in public.

There will be people on here who would love to make friends but just do not have the confidence to speak to people in public. There will be really interesting people that I could have a laugh with and a lot of fun, I would never be able to if I didn't attempt on here?

Do you want to make ''internet'' friends, or ''real'' friends in Manchester?

Both/either I really don't mind. If we get chatting and have stuff in common then sure meet up and have a laugh. If either party is not comfortable then we will not. A lot of people do meet online now and grow into quite amazing friends.

You just have to have the bottle to post a thread in plain view and open yourself up to the criticism that will follow.

I am a guy, sorry I didn't really portray it in the original post.

Yeah there's meeting new people. Then there's making a thread on a student forum almost subtly hinting to us you have no friends and what more....

I have the guts to post on here a thread like this. I would say straight up I had no friends, maybe then more people would sympathise with me? It would probably work better imo if I did do it that way.

And I admire his guts. I certainly wouldn't have the courage to make a thread like this so nicely done Topcorn. It's worth a try at least. :-)

Thank you for the virtual hug! I agree its very unorthodox trying to find friends on a forum, but I guess it is worth a try!

Oh and to be honest, if you were able to find it in yourself to post this on a large scale student forum, I know you have it in you to meet up with more like-minded people in your area.

There's at least two people that have posted in this thread alone that believe in you. Don't give up.

Doesn't really take guts, you can't see anyone who reads your thread, or even posts in it. You can't see their facial expressions at all.

I really do not see what you are getting out of this? Would it make your day if I lied and said... oh wait you are right! I have no friends.

I think it takes guts too. Nice to meet you Topcorn . Plus, despite the fact we can't see your facial expression, it is a lot about confidence..
