Why are some black people still angry over slavery, even though it ended long ago?

What use does being angry do now?

Well, I'm black, I don't think anyone is 'hurt' about it and i don't think that anyone is actually angry about it, it has been accepted by a lot of people in our society. However, it is something terrible that happened and that won't be forgotten (just like 9/11 and the holocaust). I think that it is constantly mentioned as a reminder of how a simple law can really affect and ruin so many lives.

    ...or something like that

Something like what? A lot of black people hate white people for the slave trade. IMO this is silly.

    It's just my personal view.

Nah, i think it'd be more accurate to say that any race hates off-the-cuff generalisation

    *ahem.*

I hate the English for what Longshanks did to Braveheart.

Every time I meet an English student I spit in their face.

Really? A lot? I've not met a single black person who hates me because of something that happened before we both existed, and I seriously doubt you have either.

Possibly resentment.... a feeling of inferiority due to historical events, that will not go away

slavery?! Man I thought this was going to be about people having a bad experience a couple of years ago and so still not doing that activity/having it affect their personality/trust issues etc.

But erm..can't say I've come across any black folks who have brought up slavery, but in all fairness I can't say I've ever actually had a close friend who was black.

    My 2 cents. . .

I'm talking about african-americans when i say this really as this is where most slaves ended up in the diaspora

Maybe it's because they feel it has 'set them back' a few generations and that there have been long term residual effects that have still yet to dissipate, i.e discrimination in the work place and having to prove you're "twice as good" in order to get respect and get to the top of your game e.t.c.

For god sake! This is the fifth time I've had to apologise just this week!

    I'm sorry.

You have Sean Connery and Billy Connoly now, so surely it's even?
