last year i got overall 304/400 - B
History 1 - 90/100 - a
History 2 - 72/100 - b
History 3 - 94/120 - b
History 4 - 48/80 - c

I've retaken the coursework, History 4, and now achiever 39/50 raw marks. Does anyone know if that'd bump up my overall UMS by the 16 marks required to achieve an A grade? cheeers
You would need to get 64/80 UMS marks on the coursework to get the A overall. In January 42/50 raw marks converted into 64/80 UMS marks. Hopefully it will go down and you'll get what you need.
2. just wondering if anyone knew roughly how many raw marks 16 UMS marks are ?
3. Just to run this by a few people I have a query. I think I've worked out where I stand with next week's exam (June 10th, I'm doing D1 Fascism). As I understand it, the whole A level is out of 400 UMS marks. I scored 168/200 last year for my AS level, and have been given a mark of 45/50 for my coursework, assuming the weighting for my A2 marks is 80 (coursework) and 120 (exam) then I have gotten 72/80 (i.e. 45 x 1.6) and so a cumulative mark of 240/280 thus far.

So I need 80/120 to get my overall grade A (i.e. 240 from my AS level and coursework+80 from my A2 exam) and would need to get 108/120 (90%) to get an A*?

In case they drop my coursework mark I need to clarify something, in order to get an A* do you need to have 90%+ in both the coursework and the A2 exam or is 90% in the overall A2 level sufficient (e.g. 70/80 for the coursework and 110/120 in the exam)?

Cheers.

I could have misinterpreted what you're asking, but I think in order to convert the raw marks for the coursework into UMS marks you just times/divide by 1.6. So you got 48/80 last time, which equals=30/50, this time you got 39/50 which equals 62 approx (or 14 UMS marks above what you got last time):But I could have worked something out wrong.

You need to average 90% in A2, not get 90% in each one. Though realistically speaking, one should be aiming for at least 90% in both areas (UMS wise) in order to get an A*.

And as for your coursework mark - We really can't tell you of the estimated UMS score you achieved. For example the December/January winter session of exams/coursework showed that you needed at least 46/50 for 72/80 (A*) UMS in this unit. This may boundary may rise or fall depending on the circumstances revolving around this unit.....
Roughly 78 out of 120 is.... (raw marks)
I don't know how many times it must be said but no 100% accurate score could be given to you in the conversion until it comes out. As far as i am aware the UMS % is not proportional to the Raw mark % So the best thing to do is to aim for 84/120 (B Grade) or 96/120 (A) or the best you can etc in order to guarantee the mark you need rather than faffing on exact UMS calculations to Raw Mark calculations...
7. Okay, if anyone can help that'll be awesome.
Unit 1- 94
Unit 2- 85
Unit 3- ?/120
Unit 4- 'at least an A' for my coursework

What grade do I need to get in Unit 3 to maintain my A grade from AS?
8. Hi!

Getting soooo confused with all of this,
I have 224 UMS points (152/200 at AS and 72/80 for this years coursework)
that means I need 16/120 ums for a C (240) which is technically what I need but I would like a B (280), which I'd need 56/120 ums for. What is this in raw marks in the final exam? even very roughly?

There is no clear cut conversion of raw marks to UMS. They change every year. You'll have to wait for results day for the official raw mark conversion to come out.
10. Do you possibly know what past coursework raw to UMS conversions have been?

Stricof, how many UMS in total do I need for an A* in History? Is it 340/400, 360/400 or something different?
