no longer than 20-30 minutes and will be highly quantitative with
questions in mental math, probability and problem solving. The use of a
calculator or pen and paper is NOT permitted.

Congrats! Just received a very friendly rejection e-mail from them. If you don't mind answering, what course do you study and which year are you in?

I wanna keep all my options open because 1) I have existing motivation to explore finance deeper. Nope it's not for first year specifically. It's the usual summer internship that every one else applies to. Gotta to buck up myself.

Okay thats cool. Be sure to prepare though, because I heard that Summer interviews are technical? Have you heard any news from Spring Weeks?

RBS GBM Banking. But judging from the news coming out from RBS recently, that McKinsey associates are currently restructuring the GBM division with more than half the number of jobs there going to the gutters, I'm not so sure if the spring week might even proceed.

Doing some research on HSBC I've come across a whole load of articles regarding BoAML, RBS, Nomura, UBS and maybe a few others that are cutting jobs in the next year. Nomura had a case of getting rid of grads. HSBC and RBS are cutting jobs across the investment banking division. Vickers report means for example BarCap could potentially move to Wall Street, significantly downsizing UK operations.

Makes me think, what's the point? Allow 100 hour weeks, just go work in PwC.
