    Hi there,

My girlfriend and I will be coming to the UK for 1-2 years to study. Her to do a masters, me to do open uni (I am a British national). She will have a 2 year work visa.

I wanted to query about the status of job availability in the following locations:

    1. Edinburgh
    2. Durham
    3. York
    4. Nottingham
    5. Cambridge
    6. Oxford
    7. Brighton

Part time and full time, any jobs that don't require specific skills, such as call centres, cafe and restaurant staff and other similar jobs.

If someone can provide me with some details on the level of availability in the above locations it would be great help, since I've been out of the UK for years and don't have much experience.

    Thanks in advance!

Pretty much everywhere is down to luck. There aren't that many jobs available, and when there are, you're competing against so many people now. You could try looking at local recruitment agencies and see if they will take you on for things like call centre work or admin. Cafe's and restaurants is just a case of handing out cvs really.

There is absolutely nothing in Nottingham. People here are holding on to their jobs (however crap) for dear life.
