    What are the rules here?

Say you saw a cute girl (or the girl of your dreams) working in a shop. Is it socially acceptable to chat them up? I think it would be annoying for the girl since she can't exactly escape the situation. It is her job to be nice to the customers.

Is it even technically legal? I mean in some places such as bars or lap-dancing clubs it is illegal for a girl to go home with a customer. Why would shops be any different? Similarly they are paid to be "nice" to the customers.

Maybe the rules are different depending on whether you live in a big city or a small village where everyone is more friendly.

It's a social minefield! What if she said no then you can never go back to that shop! Or if she said yes then that would be weird too to have your girlfriend serve you.

It's annoying since often you see cuter girls working in bars or shops than you do when going out socialising. The cruel irony of life.

Got into the shop. Say you have a date coming up, ask her to help pick out some clothes. Get to know what sort of clothes she likes on a guy. Then when you're at the counter, you ask her out on a date. Although you will probably have to explain that you didn't really have a date coming up and that the only reason you went in the shop was to get to know her and her tastes little bit.

Go on date.... with the clothes she picked out.

Back to her place, have the sexums.

Probability states that you will only have to get rejected every 50 times before it works. And if that doesn't work just go for the desperate's (you know, your fat birds, your low self-esteem birds and your Scouse birds)

you can, but you would probably have to have some pretty good game, or she'd have to be into you.

it's not like if they say no you can never go back, they're not going to point and laugh at you.

Rule #1: There are no rules, 'it's a jungle out there'

    Haha, what!?

Chatting a lass up need not culminate in the immortal phrase: "will you go out with me" son.. if you're sensible about it and committed to hitting it off with such a girl you play the long game (unless she's easy/up for it)

A good gf is there to serve

..and more often than not these girls will know they're hot, get a lot of attention and hence probably aren't the 1st port of call until you get a bit older/richer..

It's not illegal to flirt with someone who's working! A lot of jobs probably have a professional code of conduct they have to sign that says they will not get involved with a customer/client but that's not for legal reasons only for business.

It would be annoying for the girl if she didn't like you and couldn't walk away. Also even if she does like you, she's at work so she can't just stand round chatting.

If you like her, ask her help and chat a bit. Gauge the situation, if you think she might like you or even if you just want to take a chance - give her your number and then leave it to her to call/text you after she finishes if she wants to get to know you better.

Yeah just don't be a creep about it :indiff:

I had one guy asking me to give him a bigger bag to put his stuff in while saying 'I'm all about being big' - which in itself doesn't sound so bad, right? Well, while I was putting his stuff in the bag, he took out some things from one of the other bags he was holding to transfer it into one big bag. Amongst those things was a bunch of flavoured condoms. He asked me what my favourite flavour was and asked if I would like to test some out. I said 'No thank you. You can keep them.' To which he said, 'I was planning on keeping them. On my huuuuge ****. I was planning on keeping you as well *attempts sexface*' Trying to ignore his comments, I just say 'That's £30 please' He winked and said 'Is that your standard offer or is that a special discount for me?' I say, 'Sir, your purchases are £30.' He pays me, winks at me, gives me his business card and walks out. He then runs back in the store, asking for the business card back and gives me another one. Why? He originally gave me his wife's card.

I was at work once and a man asked for a piece of paper at the till and then wrote his number on it and gave it to one of the girls i worked with, with a little message about how it'd be nice if she could text him
It was kinda sweet until she texted him and he was 30. and she was 17 (and definitely didn't look any older...)

Oh, and I just thought I'd add, apparently Wayne Rooney met his wife in a shop but then again he does a lot of strange things...

My friend works in a shop and as she often sees the same customers she gets used to them and is quite friendly with a lot of them. One time this guy who she'd got to know just handed her his number with a smile and said he'd like to meet her outside work and to call if she fancied it. She did and they dated a few times.

Getting to know her? Jeez, that sounds like too much hard work.
