    Hi Guys,

I am looking to do maths at university - hopefully - as its my favourite and strongest subject im currently studying (Year 12). I was told that wider reading around a subject would help you and your statement when it comes to applying for universities. Do you guys have any good suggestions to start with?

    Thanks.

A really good maths book i read was 'the number mysteries' by Marcus du Sautoy.
I saw a review of it in a magazine and it sounded really good, so I read it. It was really interesting i thought, but if you're a real hardcore mathematician then it's probably a bit 'soft' but for general interest to do with maths it was good.
Also it followed a bit from his tv programme, a story of maths, so if you enjoyed that you'll enjoy this book

Can't help much more though sorry i'm more into the sciency type maths

If you want a bit of hardcore but interesting maths, the number theory book from here is excellent: http://www.mathcomp.leeds.ac.uk/publ....php?type=Book. It will give you a head start on number theory at university as well.
