For economics can you do a BA and then do an MSc afterwards or can you only do an MBa after a BA? So if I wanted to do an MSc postgrad I would need to do a BSc?

Not necessarily, take a look at Oxbridge's course details relating to Economics and you will realise that they are labelled 'BA' based on their tradition.

The BSC course is called so because of its mathematical content & theory applied to Econs. However, some university's BA mathematical content is similar or even more to most BSC's.

So yes you can do the BA and then do MSC afterwards, but it will be beneficial if you do the maths modules e.g. econometrics e.t.c
