I passed my test on Thursday and need to get temporary insurance on my mums car while my car is getting road worthy. I'm 18 so I guess the least I could get is a month. Is there anyway I could do this with an online company or would we have to do it through my mums insurance? Thanks

some companies will let you insure by the week. it will be possible to insure yourself seperatly from your mum, but i think it's cheaper to add you to her insurance. depends a bit on the company and car though.

My uncle went away for holidays for a month shortly after I passed my license. He wanted to give me his car for that period just to enjoy myself a bit, but he wasn't able to insure it for a month. They said you can only get a one month insurance if you are aged 21+.

I don't know how true it is or not, but since then I doubt it, that it is actually possible if you are under 21.
