Hi ,I am in 1st year university and I am writing an essay on disasters for human/environment module.

I am wondering when I am putting in statistics should I make a table or just keep it all in standard writing ?
Do people usually make tables in university essays?

    Thanks

You use a table if its relevant and displays the information more effectively. For example if you are comparing different disasters by total cost or death count then a table or graph would be an effective way of displaying the information.

If on the other hand you dont have much information relating to each piece then just quote it in the main body of text or you could even add in a reference to a table in the appendix.

If you do use a table don't forget to refer to it in the body of text.
