I Aplied to Edinburgh University to do renewable energy with electrical engineering but I got unsuccessful.

The requirements were ABBB with B maths,
I have AAB with A maths.

Plus a HNC in electrical engineering which is much harder than highers and at the level of first year degree so basically they're not letting me in even though I have already studied this subject at this level and have AAB highers with an A in maths. I looked up the applications and this was one of the easiest subjects to get into with about 85% success rate. At the open day the guy said with An HNC I'd have no problem getting in and it would be a case of choosing between 1st and 2nd year entry but I'm not even getting 1st year entry.

I thought I would get in but now I'm stuck any help?

Seems a bit harsh. Try and ring them for an explanation? On a side note, I think you should always have a back up plan.

I had one to either do the HND in electrical or the renewable energy course they were thinking of but things have been cut and I don't think they're doing them courses any more, I thought I would at least get a conditional for an A grade in the HNC but nothing, I'll phone as soon as possible though. Only Edinburgh has the course I want to do aswell .

It's definitely worth a call to see if they will reconsider. At the very least they ought to explain why they've turned you down, after the advice you were given.

Phone up the university, and ask whether they're willing to reconsider, it seems harsh that you've been rejected but your grades exceed the requirements (or ask you school to ring). If not, then ask why you were unsuccessful, so you'd get some future advice (mabye it was your personal statement??)
