then stop. or play smaller stakes.

buy a few poker books, go through your hand histories and take a break of a month or so to improve your game. It'll be easier to not play for the months as it is a break than trying to just stop dead.

Same boat, except about £800 down on roulette, im up £500 on Pokerstars, overall breaking even in general, maybe slightly down. The big wins dont make up for the stupid losses.

Limit yourself to tourneys, no cash games in casinos, and if you do, no more than a hundred buy in. And dont do it every day of the week. Impose online limits etc.. Get gambling counselling if you feel you need it, its physically addictive so its easy to see why you could.

Good luck with getting through it, but dont forget you can still enjoy it if you can limit yourself. Gambling is only destructive when you let it get that way.

    i've lost about £1500- 2000 playing poker

i don't think i'm hooked, but just love playing the game.
Really? You don't think you're hooked but you need to go cold turkey and close your bank account to stop playing? Gambling is good fun for sure, but when you got to £1000 losses you didn't stop and think that maybe it wasn't your greatest talent?

Btw, I don't intend to demean people who are addicted to gambling, it's tough. But you have to at least admit to yourself you have a problem if it starts getting bad!

    Good luck

You don't think you're hooked but I can tell you categorically that you ARE hooked. Good job you're closing your accounts before you ruin your life even more.
