Hey, just wondered if anyone could help me out

I know that EDTA is commonly used to calculate water hardness but I was wondering why EGTA is seen as superior to EDTA

Also, EDTA can be used to calculate the number of calcium ions but why not magnesium as well? Does it bind to magnesium and leave only calcium ions? confused.

EGTA can be used to determine calcium in the presence of magnesium right? Does this mean that you cannot use it to calculate magesium?

    Thanks
