Hey there, I need to do my Oedipus coursework and my teacher gave me a plan but there is some parts I don't understand and I need help with! Sorry to bother.

    The coursework question is

In what sense is Oedipus a "tragic hero" by Aristotle's definition? Of what value is tragedy generally, in your opinion? Consider the debate amongst critics to help you to develop your own ideas.

    Oedipus Plan

    • Aristotle and Oedipus – theory and practice
    • What Aristotle counts as tragic hero and what Oedipus is in reality
    • The value of tragedy – ancient and modern: critics/ literary conventions
    • Own assessment of the value of tragedy
    • Oedipus today
    • Aristotle today
    • Contemporary social, cultural, literary references

    Things I don't understand

    • Theory and Practice
    • Literary conventions
    • Contemporary social, cultural, literary references

I would be very grateful to anyone who can help me!
