I was just wondering if anybody knows if Melbourne Uni have already notified winners of their National Scholarships, and also other faculty award winners.

I'm guessing a 99.90 just missed me a National Scholarship.

Damn.

Hey,

I think you would have to get 99.95 or 100 (which is impossible in IB)
to get a scholarship. Sydney Uni seems to work different, they have
three levels of scholarship, the top one you have to get 98 and the
other two 95, but they take involvement in other things into account as
well. However, they have already given their scholarships out (and
overlooked all IB applicants!!!!). I heard of someone here who got 100
and was offered one last week by Melbourne Uni, so I guess they have
given theirs out.

Just another rant but even though the ENTER and the UAI are meant to be
equivilant, you cannot achieve a 100 in the VCE since the maximum is
99.95. That, to me, is extremly F***ed.

The VCE/HSC ones were given out the same day the results were,
The IB ones are apparently meant to be given out yesterday or
today or tomorrow.

From talking to the people at the scholarship desk on open day, they
only offer to peole who get 45. I dont know if that meant that we only
offer to people who got 99.95 of which 45 was the only way or we only
give to 45 so I am still hanging in there

I got one!

It's Ok..my question was answered this afternoon..when I got a phone call from melb uni...

so yes..even with my 'supposedly too low' ENTER of 99.90...I still got one...so I'm pretty rapt, cos it means no uni/HEC fees..and a $5000 spending money (or 'education allowance') for 4 years!!

on top of that a $500 cheque in the mail today from my school for being one of 3 duxes (duxi in plural?) and i'd say my day was pretty good!

but seriously..congrats to everybody for making it through IB alone...an ENTER is just a number...in 6 months or so it will means absolutely nothing and nobody will give a **** so let's just go out and celebrate while we can!

i got offered a national scholarship but i'm not accepting it since i am
going to go to monash and i have a scholarship there also.

hence, once i've formally declined my scholarship you should be in
with a chance

i have heard that they only hand them out to 99.95s and not 99.90s.
otherwise theres too many ppl to compete with or sth like that

good luck!

nah Karen..I got a 99.90 (straight up..with no uni enhancement or anything) and they still offered me one so there is really still a chance..

i figured all those ppl who got 99.95 are mostly out to do med. so that left room for us non-med ppl....

Really, I got a courier delivered to my doorstep which rather
suprised me. All the fancy glossy brochures and everything, too bad I
have to reject

that sounds pretty interesting, though. You don't happen to have any
advice for a future IB student? I feel I should better my study habits
for the real IB, (although/because I'm quite ambitious).

..couldn't all of you survivalists just get together and compile a guide
for me on: "how to get 45p. on your IB diploma". ;-J

well.. anyway, I think it'd be nice if we shared some of our ideas and
routines and learned a bit from each other. Our study habits is
probably something that could and should be improved for most of us.
especially me.
