    Hello there,

    Sorry to taint the Maths forum with an annoying thread but I'm utterly confused here!

    The question is:

    Express

    p^3(p^2-p^-3)

    its its simplest form.

    If anyone could explain this to me, I'd be extremely grateful!

    Thanks kindly.

    x^ax^b \equiv x^{a+b}, also, for any number, a,

    a^0=1

    expand the bracket.

    \displaystyle{P^3(P^2-1/P^3)}=\displaystyle {P^5}-{P^3}/{P^3}

    ..........................=\displaystyle{P^5}-{1}
