I thought she was really similar to a lot of artists at the moment and found her chart hits rather generic, but my friend told me to look her up on Youtube and her voice is actually outstanding and really not what you'd expect from her popular music. She did an acapella version of Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing" and it gave me the shivers.

"Do It Like a Dude" is one of those funny songs that, whenever I sing and/or dance to it, I always seem to feel a bit more confident for a while

Not sure if I've heard 'Do It Like a Dude', but 'Price Tag' is a lovely pop single. Along with such records as Asa's 'Be My Man' and Adele's 'Someone Like You', it really does reassure this pop-lovin' fella that the industry is still capable of recording some truly great music.

She was ripping the piss out of chavs, and the chavs went and bought it in their droves. Nuff said.
I am interested.

'Do It Like a Dude' is quality, but 'Price Tag' is just annoying... everytime I hear that song I wonder how much £££ she made from it.
Her voice is good but her acapella makes me CRINGE 'm-m-m-money m-m-m-m money'- you should check it out will make you laugh and think wtf.
Overall she is decent but cannot compare to Adelle or Winehouse

Jessie J wrote her debut single 'Do It Like A Dude' as ''a joke song'' in reaction to the bling heavy videos she was seeing on TV at the time.
She said: "At the time I felt that the chart was very auto-tune heavy. There was a lot of guys with their trousers down by their knees and their neck chains so heavy they couldn't hold their head up.
"I just went into the studio and they played a beat and I just started singing, 'Do it like a brother, do it like a dude'.
"And it was a joke, I was laughing. I said 'let's write a joke song'. And within 15 minutes it was done.
"It was one of those songs that was supposed to be fun. I don't take myself seriously at all."
