    Hey =)

    Was just wondering what UMS you need to get the different grades, overall for A2 because I would like to work out what i need to get in the summer paper in order to get a C, any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks =)

    Well, the grades tend to be:

    40% -E
    50 - D
    60 - C
    70 - B
    80 - A
    90 - A* (I think, this is new so i'm unsure)

    You'll need 60% of all the marks available for a C.
    There are 4 tests, all of which have 100 UMS marks so...
    400/100 = 4
    4 = 1%
    so, 4 X60 = 240
    60% = 240

    So you'll need 240 marks for a C (ish - it partially depends on whether grade boundaries are higher or lower for that year, but it tends to be pretty similar)

    Sorry for the longwindedness of the post, I like to explain things :P
    Hope you did well in your politics tests, I thought they were hell myself :/

    Correct with one exception.

    To obtain an A* grade:

    a) You need an A grade at AS (180) UMS marks.

    b) You need to scored 90 UMS marks at Unit 3 and 90 UMS marks at Unit 4.

    The UMS boundaries do not change from year to year - it's the raw marks that may vary.

    Good god I hope you don't mark my paper.

    For an A* you need at least 80% of the total uniform marks for all four units (i.e. 320 UMS/at least an A) in addition to scoring at least 180 UMS overall at A2.

    You don't necessarily have to have scored 90 in both A2 papers. Overall you need to achieve 180 UMS at A2, so that could be 100 in one paper and 80 in the other. It's an aggregate.
