I will be leaving uni soon and would like to begin a career with some sort of prospects. I intend to do this for a year or two and then evaluate whether i want to go back to uni or not. A career as an estate agent does appeal to me and i was wondering how i would be best to enter the field. I was thinking of just sending my CV off to some local agents as a start. Does anyone know of any tarining schemes or any major firms who recruit trainees? also anyone who is in this line of work and could give me some info would be great.

Most negotiator roles require sales experience but I guess the trainee ones might not (expect to be v. poorly paid and have huge targets tho). Doesn't really matter which company you get in with, any agent worth their salt can move between companies once they've proved themselves at one.

There are professional training courses you can do but as you're only planning to do it for a couple of years you might not want to bother. My local EAs (including the Nationals) just advertise in the local papers, so sending out CVs won't do any harm
