Hi everyone i'm new here and hope to be a regular.

I am 20 years old and i am looking to sit my A-levels this summer privately through a college or something similar. I do not need any tuition as i have learnt the books by myself but i was informed that i will need a candidate number. Will i have to pay extra for this?

I want to sit AS Psychology by OCR and AS Mathematics by Edexcel but i'm having a hard time finding information. Anyone who knows anything about how and where i can sit these exams (as close as possible to camden) your help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

The entry date for summer exams was today, so you've missed the normal deadline and may find it harder to get someone to accept you and will certainly face higher costs. Any school/college can if they wish take private candidates, though many don't want the admin hassle. Research which local schools/colleges offer the same subjects/examiners and phone exams officers and ask if they'll take you. North London College have accepted many private candidates in the past, even for subjects they do not teach. I recommend you phone them tommorow, speak to the exams officer and see if they will still enter you and at what cost.

Edexcel Maths is very popular, so you should'nt have any difficulty entering. OCR Psychology you should be able to enter for as well, as long as there is no coursework. You've missed the deadline, which was today, however if you phone the colleges above and explain your situation, you might be lucky enough to avoid paying the late entry fee. The very late entry deadline is in mid April, so there may still be time for you to enter for this June!

[QUOTE=gdunne42;30455680] Any school/college can if they wish take private candidatesQUOTE]

Thanks a lot for this information i never knew "normal" colleges accepted private candidates. i contacted my former sixth form college that i left 2 years ago and explained my situation to the head of sixth form whom i know well and was told that it wouldn't be a problem to enter me and that i can come in tomorrow to arrange it all.

Also thanks to Intellectual for providing the colleges as well as the links and information about late deadlines.
