I want to give up Finance for Journalism! Extremely confused! Please help!?
I'm a final year college student majoring in Finance. I will graduate this year but I feel I am more inclined towards journalism, especially sports journalism. It's something I've always wanted to do and I finally got the chance to do it when I got an internship with a sports website. Have been writing for them for the past two months and thoroughly enjoying it. I want to do my Masters in Journalism now to improve my skills and pursue a career in journalism.
HOWEVER, I have got some bad reviews from people. They say, I will be taking a huge risk by giving up a Finance job to get into journalism. They say journalism is extremely hard to get into and very low-paying. I'm confused now. I understand that a journalism job may not pay you as much as a Finance job, but I would derive far more job satisfaction from a Finance job. Plus, I will have a FInance degree anyway, so if I try out Journalism for a while and it doesn't work, I can go back to finance right?
Is it really that hard to get into journalism?
